Rust Electricity Calculator

SAM Site: 25 power; Tesla Coil: 25 power; Auto Turret: 10 power; Search Light: 10 power. Add the components you want to run to total their draw and see what powers them - and how long a battery keeps them on.

Large Solar Panelup to 20Peak when facing the sun; less at an angle, nothing at night, and less when damaged.
Wind Turbine0 - 150Random wind; more the higher it stands above the ground or rock below it; buildings nearby block it.
Small Generator40Burns roughly 250 low grade fuel an hour (community-measured), whatever the load.
Water WheelvariesAdded April 2026 - steady in rivers, tidal in the ocean; you can also run inside it.
Small Rechargeable Battery15 outStores 400 rWm - Buffed in Oct 2023 - older guides say 150 / 10.
Medium Rechargeable Battery50 outStores 9,000 rWm
Large Rechargeable Battery100 outStores 24,000 rWm

How Rust power works

  • Each device needs its full power to work (a ceiling light needs 2, an igniter 2); anything left over passes through its Passthrough output.
  • Logic parts - switches, gates, timers, blockers, splitters, branches, combiners - have used no power since April 2024. Sensors and radio parts still use 1.
  • A splitter divides its input between the outputs you actually connect; power a load doesn't use is lost, not passed on.
  • An electrical branch sends the amount you set out of Branch Out and the rest out of Power Out.
  • A root combiner adds two power sources together (generators, panels, batteries).
  • Batteries charge at up to about 80% efficiency and give out at most their max output; they can charge and discharge at the same time.
  • Wires reach about 30 m with up to 16 anchor points; route through another component to go further.
  • Since August 2026 the Power Plant's heavy fuses can power roadside transformers on powerline poles - free power for anyone nearby.

Values checked 2026-11-07 against wiki.facepunch.com, rust.facepunch.com, www.corrosionhour.com, rust.facepunch.com. Facepunch rebalances electricity now and then - if a number looks off in game, the game wins.

The Rust electricity calculator adds up the power your circuit needs: pick the components you want to run - turrets, SAM sites, lights, heaters, sensors, industrial machines - and it totals their draw, then shows how many solar panels, wind turbines, generators or batteries supply it. Power figures are each component's in-game consumption.

Not any more. Since April 2024 switches, buttons, AND/OR/XOR gates, timers, blockers, memory cells, splitters, branches and root combiners pass power on for free. Sensors (HBHF, laser detector, seismic) and RF parts still use 1 each.

Its stored energy divided by what you draw: a large battery stores 24,000 rWm, so at 10 power it lasts 2,400 minutes (40 hours). The calculator works it out for your circuit.
