Rust+ Companion App

Rust+ is Facepunch's free phone app for iOS and Android. Pair it with a server you play on and you can watch the map, chat with your team, get alarm notifications and flip switches in your base while you're away from the game.

What you can do with it

Live mapSee the server map with your team's positions, monuments, vending machines and events like Cargo Ship and Patrol Helicopter, updated in near real time.
Team chatRead and send team chat from your phone. Messages appear in-game for your teammates exactly like typed chat.
Smart Alarm notificationsA Smart Alarm wired to a trap or door sends a push notification to every paired phone the moment it is triggered, so you know about a raid while it is happening.
Smart Switch controlToggle Smart Switches remotely: turn on turrets, SAM sites, lights or a trap base from anywhere.
Storage MonitorPair a Storage Monitor on a Tool Cupboard or large box and read its contents remotely, including how long your upkeep will last.
CCTVWatch paired CCTV cameras and PTZ cameras from the app to check on your base or a monument.
Server infoPlayer count, wipe time, server time of day and the countdown to the next wipe, so you know whether it is worth logging in.

Pairing in six steps

  1. Install Rust+ from the App Store or Google Play and sign in with the same Steam account you play on.
  2. In game, open the menu (Esc) and press Rust+, then Pair with server. The server now shows in the app.
  3. Craft and place a smart device: Smart Switch, Smart Alarm, Storage Monitor or a camera. Power it (see the planner below).
  4. Look at the device, hold E, and choose Pair. The app pops a notification; accept it and name the device.
  5. Open the server in the app: devices are under Devices, the map under Map, chat under Team.
  6. Teammates pair their own phones the same way; devices paired by one player are visible only to that player unless they pair them too.

Smart Device Power Planner

Rust power is measured in rWm. Devices draw it continuously; sources supply it.

Set how many of each device your base runs. The planner totals the draw and tells you what it takes to power it day and night.

Tips that save a wipe

  • Wire a Smart Alarm to a Door Controller or HBHF sensor at your entrance and keep the message short: "FRONT DOOR" beats a paragraph when you're half asleep.
  • Put turrets behind a Smart Switch so you can arm them from your phone when the alarm fires.
  • A Storage Monitor on the Tool Cupboard shows upkeep remaining in the app, which is the single most useful number for a group.
  • Rust+ only works while the server is online and only for servers that have it enabled; most official and large community servers do.
  • Pair devices before you log off, not after a raid starts. Pairing needs you in game, looking at the device.

Not getting notifications?

  • Open the phone's settings and allow Rust+ to send notifications and run in the background; battery savers are the usual culprit.
  • The Smart Alarm must have power on its input when it is triggered; a dead battery at night means no alert.
  • Make sure you are still paired: devices are unpaired when they are destroyed or picked up, and every wipe clears all pairings.
  • If the server list is empty, re-pair with the server from the in-game Rust+ menu.

Rust+ is Facepunch's free companion app for iOS and Android. This guide explains what it does - live map, team chat, Smart Alarm notifications, remote Smart Switches, Storage Monitors and CCTV - how to pair it with a server and your devices, and includes a planner that works out how many batteries, solar panels or wind turbines your smart base needs.
