Rust Upkeep Calculator

Estimate your base's daily tool cupboard upkeep.

1. Base Size

2. Total Build Cost

Sum of every resource spent building the base (your building blocks' own crafting costs already show this per-piece on each item's page).

Estimated Daily Upkeep

Blended Rate
10.0%

Assumes build cost is spread evenly across all blocks. A base with a few very expensive pieces (e.g. lots of doors/windows) mixed in with cheap ones will vary slightly from this estimate.

Rates are Rust's own dedicated-server defaults (the decay.bracket_*/decay.duration_* ConVars), most servers run unmodified. Upkeep is charged as a percentage of your base's total build cost, in the same resources it was built from, and that percentage rises the more blocks your base has. If a server has changed these values, the real numbers there will differ from what's shown here.

The base upkeep calculator works out how much wood, stone, metal fragments and high quality metal your base costs per day from its block count and total build cost, using Rust's own default decay brackets.

Frequently Asked Questions

As a share of the base's total build cost, paid from the tool cupboard in the same resources it was built from. On Rust's default settings the first 15 blocks cost 10% of their build cost per day, the next 35 cost 15%, the next 75 cost 20%, and every block beyond 125 costs 33.3% - so a bigger base pays a higher rate overall.

A base that runs out of upkeep resources starts decaying and will eventually collapse - the calculator's numbers are meant to help you stock enough to avoid that.
