Rust Base Cost Calculator

Add your base's building blocks and doors to get its total build cost, what the tool cupboard eats in upkeep each day, and how much sulfur a raider needs to reach your loot. It starts with a stone 2x2 - change anything.

1. Building blocks

2. Doors & deployables

3. Raid path to your loot

The layers a raider has to break through, outside to loot room - e.g. a door, then a wall, then another door.

Cost to raid

Build costs are each piece's upgrade cost at that grade; doors are their crafting recipe. Upkeep uses Rust's default brackets (10% of build cost a day for the first 15 blocks, rising to 33% past 125) on building blocks only - modded servers can change this. Raid costs use each layer's cheapest standard explosive, as in the raid calculator; see best-value doors and walls to strengthen the weakest layer.

The base cost calculator plans a whole Rust base in one place: add your foundations, walls, floors and doorways at any grade plus your doors, and it totals the build cost, the daily tool cupboard upkeep from Rust's default upkeep brackets, and how much sulfur a raider needs to break through the layers between outside and your loot.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Upkeep is a share of what the base cost to build, so a stone wall costs stone upkeep and a metal wall costs metal fragment upkeep. Bigger bases also pay a higher share per block once they pass Rust's upkeep brackets.

Enough that raiding your loot costs more than it's worth to a raider. Add each wall and door on the raid path and the calculator shows the total sulfur - compare it with what you're storing.
